Self Love Before Any Other Love

Tis The Season of Love

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner we decided to start this week off with a self-love challenge. It's only natural that Valentine’s Day might evoke memories of chocolate, flowers, teddy bears, and time with loved ones. Love is undoubtedly in the air around this time of year.

It’s easy to forget that we, as individuals, deserve all the love and care this Valentine’s Day too. After all, as we celebrate our love for others, it's important we don't forget to love and be kind to ourselves! The challenge was simple: complete self-care practices each day and encourage someone special in your life to participate as well! How did you do?

Here are the exercises that we recommended throughout the week:
Day 1: Journal for 15 minutes
Day 2: Read for 20 minutes
Day 3: Write down 5 things that you’re grateful for
Day 4: Do yoga for 15 minutes
Day 5: Meditate for 10 minutes
Day 6: Try the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) for 5-10 minutes
Day 7: Get dressed up...for yourself!

Each of these exercises can be incorporated into your daily routine. If you don’t have 15-20 min? Try for 10! Any amount of time, whether that’s 10 minutes or 60 minutes that you take to appreciate yourself will make a significant difference in your life and, holistically, these practices can improve your relationships, creativity, and personal growth journey.

The Most Powerful Kind of Love

“Work on yourself to fill yourself up and keep your cup full. I used to be afraid of that and now I embrace it. It’s only when you are full that your cup runneth over and I have so much to offer and give. I am not afraid of honoring myself.”- Oprah Winfrey

We couldn't agree more with this quote from Oprah. Self-love must be seen as a fundamental part of our existence. When we love and honor ourselves, we can give even more to others. It's a continuous cycle that keeps on giving.

If you have a significant other, we hope you enjoy your time together this weekend because love, in any form, should be celebrated and cherished. And if it's you and your dog, go ahead and spoil yourself with a box of chocolate and glass of champagne or whatever indulgence makes you feel celebrated. We promise we won't judge!

Happy Valentine's Day Weekend!
